So [livejournal.com profile] wrenlet dragged me kicking and screaming into Supernatural fandom (seriously, I was all, I hate horror! and she was all, "I'll make a log of what times the bad parts are in so you can skip those as you watch!" and I was like, "Ok, fine, I'll just watch it") and I was flailing around reading all the new fic and noticed that [livejournal.com profile] myrna1_2_3, who I knew from QaF fandom, was subscribed to an SPN mailing list. I emailed her up to say hello and command her to write some brain-damaged Sam fic right away please only to find that she had already written a fic giving Sam pneumonia. ahahahaha. Some people will never change and Myrna is clearly one of them.

Anyway, Myrna and I were exchanging fic ideas, and she was writing nice things where Sam was bleeding a lot: one, two. I mention this now because I'm pretty sure she was the biggest fan ever of this upcoming idea I had, set in the hiatus after the first season. It's not really written, it's just a description of what I would write were I ever to be less lazy than I really am.

Dean's the only one who wakes up right away. John and Sam are in the hospital in comas or whatever, and Dean's out hunting, because the doctors don't think that John and Sam are going to wake up, and goddamnit Dean has one bullet left and only one thing to live for. Then Dean starts to hear Sam's voice in his head. Dean wonders a lot whether he's going insane or not. He figures if he were really going insane, why not Dad and Sam, right? Maybe the fact that it's just Sam he hears means that it's real, that this is something that Sam can do, this is another weird Sam thing, not Dean off his rocker. But then Dean sort of knows that deep down he'd pick Sam over Dad, and he wonders if he's insane, would it even matter? Like, nothing else in the world makes any sense, why should him hearing voices in his head be logical.

Dean is hearing Sam, though, and Sam's helping him with the hunt, helping him narrow in on this guy, now that Dean's finally in league with Sam and John--kill the bastard no matter what it costs--and then suddenly, Sam's voice shouts, "DEAN!" and then he's gone, he's not in Dean's head anymore.

Dean goes back to the hospital as fast as he can, and Sam's awake and John's dead, and Sam and Dean are hugging and crying together and it's a good ten minutes before Dean even realizes that Sam can't see anything. Dean doesn't even notice until Sam reacts oddly to a nurse in the room, or something, and then suddenly Dean gets it and he just blanches.

But Sam's totally psychic now. He can move things with his mind, with way more finesse than Max, even, and it's somehow related to the coma he was in, and he can feel things telekinetically too, he can stretch out his senses to reach things on the other side of the room and feel around there. So Sam spends 90% of his time so fucking disoriented he can hardly reach out and find a glass of water, or manage to walk across a room. He clings to Dean's arm all the time, not really because he's likely to walk into something or trip over, but because if he knows Dean is next to him it helps him to get a slightly amount of perspective on the infinity of space around him.

At night Sam compulsively touches things--the same thing, over and over again, a nightstand, or the edge of the mattress, and eventually Dean crawls into bed next to Sam, and like, there's a lot of skin contact there, and Sam makes some comment about all the touching. And Dean's like, "Hell, you were touching me just as much when I was over there, now we're even." And that's the first time they smile, weakly, after their dad died.

Once blind Sam gets himself and things figured out, he has a plan. He tells Dean about the plan, half-whispered breathing on each other's skin, and half spoken directly into Dean's mind, because Sam's not sure which way evil is more likely to overhear. Dean's still sort of frantically in the mindset that they have to run and hide, or that he has to somehow stash Sam in safety and then hunt the thing himself, or--Dean's not actually sure what he should be doing. But Sam says that they have to call it to them. Sam outlines to Dean how it's going to work, how Sam can reach out and pull it in, how he's been practicing and he knows he can hold it there long enough to get a shot and make sure that the shot hits and the thing stays dead.

And Dean says, "Well, what the hell do you need me for," and Sam looks at him, and it's all so very plain on Sam's face, and Sam's like, "Dean, you're my anchor." And they're quiet for a moment and then Sam's like, "Dean, are you crying?" and Dean is muttering like, what the fuck, no, what are you talking about, anchors, whatever.

Then they fight the evil thing and win, which is sort of the end.

But I can picture Dean and Sam later in a bar. Dean is trying to be irritating and he's going on and on about how hot the bartender is, mostly to piss Sam off because Sam can't see her, of course, and suddenly Sam laughs and is like, "She's not very well endowed, though," and Dean is all, "Sammy!" and he's half-shocked and half-proud that his brother uses his psychic powers to feel up women.

In the end, Dean and Sam have to eventually settle out in the middle of nowhere because empty space is less disorienting for Sam than a lot of things moving around him. They could totally live in a trailer because it's trashier that way.

Anyway, Sam seems okay with being out there, like, he talks to Dean and stuff and has weird hobbies like coaxing bunnies to eat carrots from his hand in the yard and stuff. He can't read since he's blind but sometimes he makes Dean surf on the web looking at stuff for hours, and Dean is so bored out of his mind, but if Dean starts to look away Sam yells at him because Sam's reading the page through Dean's mind. Dean hates doing this, it drives him nuts, but Sam viciously works Dean's guilt complex. Sam is all, "Wow, Dean, I wish I could see the screen myself. It's too bad I'm *BLIND*, isn't it? But I suppose you have other things to do, since you can see, huh?" and Dean grumbles a lot but does it, of course.

Dean is still quasi-worried over Sam all the time, and doesn't like to leave him, because sometimes Sam still gets vertigo just standing alone in the room, if there's a sudden strong breeze, or something that catches him off guard and overwhelms his psychic senses. But Dean is going batshit insane, if he doesn't hang around with someone other than Sam he's going to go nuts, and Dean goes off into town and Sam's telling Dean how Sam is going to be fine by himself for a bit, and hey, if he's not fine, he has handy psychic powers and can actually call to Dean with the power of his mind, or with the power of his cell phone, whichever is easier. So Sam's purposefully ignoring Dean, and Dean worries anyway but goes out and has a couple beers, talks to this one girl, and she's totally into him, but he's still thinking about Sam, so he convinces the girl to go back to his place with him. This isn't practical, since he lives in the middle of nowhere, and since--duh, he realizes this as he gets close--Sam will know someone else is with him, Sam will know every fucking thing they do. So Dean's realizing that this wasn't his brightest idea, but the girl is all like, I thought we were doing stuff, and Dean's making out with her in the car, etc. She wants to go inside and get comfortable, and Dean's all torn, he sort of wants to just get her out of here so he can go check on Sam, but on the other hand, of course he wants to get laid. So he's all like, "We're comfortable, aren't we?" and he convinces her to join him in the backseat. And Dean is rushed, because he's thinking about Sam the whole time, because either Sam is dead and Dean doesn't know yet, or Sam can probably feel everything that Dean is doing right now, and either way, Dean is freaked out.

Then suddenly Sam is in Dean's head and Sam's like, "Dean, you're never going to get her off like that." And of course once he hears Sam in his head and knows Sam's okay Dean's just mad, and Sam is still in his head all like, "Do you want some help? I think I found the spot--" and suddenly the girl is gasping and arching her back and Dean is all like, "SAM!" and bellowing in his head.

Anyway, Dean is pretty startled by Sam's interference with his bad sex, and he wasn't totally into it in the first place, and Sam is annoying him, and Dean doesn't even think he's going to finish and so he's griping at Sam in his head for ruining all his fun, and then suddenly Sam's touching *him*, too. Which shouldn't be hot but God Dean thinks it *is*.

Afterward, the girl is all impressed and telling Dean how fantastic and amazing he is, and Dean's just not sure whether he wants to kiss Sam or punch him, but that's all potentially the beginning of the slash, if I decide I want to do more with it.

So...yeah. Angst and then whacky sex hijinks, that's all I've got, I think. :)
