We've captured Poland's pride and joy!

1. New icon--thank you [livejournal.com profile] soundczech. You are amazing.

2. Giant victory: Myrna is getting livejournal! I was going to wait until she actually had it to say anything, but couldn't help myself and burst of excitement.

3. Why has no one ever written Dirty Dancing QaF fic? Brian would need better dancing skills than he has canonically, but then he could be the dance instructor at the little resort that Justin's family comes on on vacation. Justin is fascinated with Brian on sight. Craig hates Brian on sight. Molly whines a lot. Don't tell me the idea doesn't have potential.

Uh huh, see, and this is why you rock. You think of these things ahead of time instead of leaving your readers going, "Buh? The fuck?" ;)

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-27 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
But I am still sad that Brian signing Justin's field trip permission forms will never see the light of day:

J: (holding paper) I need you to sign this.
B: Why?
J: The whole sophomore class is going to the art museum.
B: (signs) Well, be a good little boy and don't get lost. Fuck a curator for me.
J: Plus, I need five dollars for lunch.

Also, I want to make Brian go to Justin's parent-teacher conferences. The idea just kills me.

I want to make Brian go to Justin's parent-teacher conferences.

BWAHAHAHA. I would pay good money to read that.

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I wish there was a way to make it work.

[identity profile] juteux.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Maybe Justin enrolled at some Undisclosed Art College, where the students have an art show that is meant just for parents, so they can see if they're getting their money's worth? And of course Brian crashes the party. That's the closest I can get to parent-teacher conferences, because you don't really have those in college...

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, the whole point is to make Justin 15 so he's in high school and *has* parent teacher conferences. That's why it's so hard to set up the premise believably. Cause why would Brian adopt some fifteen year old?

[identity profile] wrenlet.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Phoo. Phoo. He'd have to feel obligated somehow, and that's really where it falls apart, in't it? Brian doesn't do obligation well.

"Distant related-by-marriage cousin" doesn't work, 'cause he couldn't give a rat's ass what his family would think of him if he said no. Related to Debbie? Hm. Maybe if it's during Vic's bad period so she can't take him in herself, only where's Mikey? Where's Mikey. Hmm. Although, that might work. Brian does things for Debbie that he wouldn't otherwise do... Lindsay, too, but for some reason I think Brian'd feel more... "affection" is too strong a word, but something like that, for a fellow Lost Boy. Tolerance, maybe.

And hey, even heartless!season!one!Brian might restrain his urge to kick the snotty little teenager out on his ass, if it meant not stressing Debbie any further while she deals with Vic maybe dying.

Maybe? Or have I squishified Brian too much, now? :)

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. *mulls*

[identity profile] wrenlet.livejournal.com 2003-10-27 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god... oh man. Now I will be forced to wrack my brains to come up with a Way This Could Work for you, because... holy hell.

Gold.

*falls over*

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hee hee. If you figure out a way for it to work, definitely let me know. Starla and I talked it through cause she loved it too, but we couldn't get it to work cause of the fundamental characterization problem I mentioned.

[identity profile] rikkrp.livejournal.com 2003-10-27 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
instead of leaving your readers going, "Buh? The fuck?" ;)

You mean this ISN'T a normal reaction to fic? Huh! Who knew????

Hee hee. You are slowly learning Austrian.

[identity profile] rikkrp.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
You are slowly learning Austrian.

It's nice to learn another language, I'm all about learning other languages... okay, well, officially I know NO other language, but you know, I'm down with the idea...

So I can READ Austrian... is it possible to learn to SPEAK Austrian, cuz I think that's more difficult.

My icon should say I don't READ Polish, cuz I sure as hell speak it...

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
I know French. Sort of. I studied French, rather.

[identity profile] rikkrp.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I studied French, rather.

Yeah, I 'studied' French, German and Spanish. That was a laugh. American schools really don't take those foreign languages seriously. I even lived in another country during the time I was studying those languages! Okay, well it was England, where the speak... uh... English.... but you know, proximity-wise - way closer to Germany, France and Spain than the US.

Most of my Spanish classes ended in class letting out early due to bomb threats being called in...

Oh so way off topic.

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I live in England.

[identity profile] wrenlet.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Just for that, I should write a fic designed to confuse and befuddle readers. Or make them spew soda on their monitors. Only I really, really suck at humorfic :D

[identity profile] josselin.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
There's really no need to write fic designed to be confusing. You'd never be able to compete with the fic that's already out there, anyway. Even if you were trying. :)

[identity profile] rikkrp.livejournal.com 2003-10-28 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)

Spew!Fic is good, I say go for the spew!fic. I'd read it.

Course I'd read anything...
